2. Compassion Fatigue Workshops
In 2014 Jackie became one of the UK’s first professionals to be trained in Compassion Fatigue. Jackie has so far delivered training to Doctors, Crisis Workers, Counsellors, Police Officers, Social Workers, University staff and IAPT and NHS Managers.
Compassion fatigue is the “cost of caring” for others in emotional pain (Figley, 1982)
Françoise Mathieu is the founder of Compassion Fatigue Solutions and the Co-Executive Director of TEND, the organisation that created and delivers Compassion Fatigue training. Please watch this short video of Françoise explaining what Compassion Fatigue is.
Jackie and Françoise deliver training together on Compassion Fatigue and regularly stay in contact.
Jackie delivers half-day and full-day Compassion Fatigue workshops to professional teams. Her workshops cover the following areas:
- Taking Stock – what is Compassion Fatigue and where are you personally in it?
- Strength to Care – developing systems and personal resiliency
- Monthly Check Ins – supporting staff members post training
Compassion Fatigue training is suitable for all professionals who work with people, as topics cover life work balance, primary and secondary trauma, burn out and resiliency. Jackie’s main aim when delivering this training is to re-energise people’s commitment to work and helping them be less overloaded.
In November 2019, Jackie wrote an article for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)’s University & College Counselling Journal titled ‘Taking Stock – An Introduction to Compassion Fatigue’. See it here.
